Drs. Burgett, Maggid, Plotsky and Mitra have received numerous awards including Washingtonian’s Top Doctors, Consumer Check Book Magazine Top Doctors, The Guide to Americas Top Pediatrician and most recently Shady Grove Pediatric Associates has been voted “Best of Bethesda” by Bethesda Magazine’s readers.
All four doctors live locally and each have a son and daughter who have attended local schools.
Dr. Brigitte Burgett
Dr. Brigitte Burgett graduated from the Medical School at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. She completed two years of postgraduate training in pulmonary medicine and pediatrics in Germany, followed by three years of residency in pediatrics at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Burgett has been in private practice since 1991. She is board certified in Pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She enjoys the continuity in primary care practice from birth through the college years and works with parents to address behavioral and developmental concerns as well as questions of physical health.
Dr. Carol Plotsky
Dr. Carol Plotsky is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Medicine and UConn School of Law. Her pediatric training was at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital with two years of a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Plotsky has served in leadership roles at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, the Montgomery County Medical Society and the Family Life Committee of the Board of Education. She teaches pediatric risk management courses for Medical Mutual Insurance Company. She also mentors medical and nurse practitioner students.
Dr. Mindy Maggid
Dr. Mindy Maggid is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received a B.A. in Medical Ethics and a M.SC. in Anthropology with a specialization in Biomedical Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. She received the Hugh Hussey Award, presented to those residents demonstrating excellence in Medical student teaching and received the Resident of the Year award. Prior to joining Shady Grove Pediatric Associates in 2005, Dr. Maggid practiced for ten years at a private practice in Rockville, MD.
Dr. Mitra is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Mitra graduated from NRS Medical College and Hospital, University of Calcutta in India. She moved to the United States in 2003. Dr. Mitra performed clinical observerships at Bright Futures Pediatrics and hospital based clinics in Michigan. Dr. Mitra completed residency in Pediatrics from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2008. She worked at a large federal health center in MS for eight years. Dr. Mitra went into academia when she mentored medical students and residents prior to moving to Maryland. She joined SGPA in 2017.
